How long does a 14 oz soy candle burn?
Ours are listed at 45 to 50 hours in total. You’ll get the most out of it if the first burn lasts long enough to melt the wax to the edge of the jar, about three hours, and if you trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each light. A candle that tunnels leaves unused wax on the sides.
Are soy candles better than paraffin?
Many people prefer them. Soy wax is made from soybean oil, a renewable plant source, while paraffin is made from petroleum. Soy also tends to burn more slowly and at a lower temperature, so a jar lasts longer. Our candles are mostly soy wax, and some scents are blended with beeswax and essential oils.
How long should you burn a candle at a time?
On the first burn, keep it lit until the melted wax reaches the edge of the jar, about three hours for our candles. After that, burn it for one to four hours at a time. Then put it out, let it cool and trim the wick before the next light.
Scented soy candles
Each candle is 14 ounces of mostly soy wax in a ceramic jar with a lid, about 3.5 inches wide and 4.7 inches tall. Some scents are blended with beeswax and essential oils. Choose Oud & Sandalwood, Lavender, Smoke & Vanilla or Jasmine Cashmere, in black or white jars. Burn times are listed at 45 to 50 hours.
Get the full burn
- On the first light, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar. That takes about three hours for a jar this wide and stops the candle from tunneling.
- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each light.
- Burn for no more than four hours at a time, away from drafts.
Candles at a party
Keep scented candles away from the dining table so they don’t compete with the food. Put them in the entry, the powder room or a lounge corner instead. When the candle is done, wash out the jar and reuse it for cotton swabs, matches or a small plant. For the table itself, pair charger plates with napkins in a matching color.
