How many forks do I need per guest?
One fork per guest for each course that needs one. A dinner with a separate salad or dessert needs two per guest. For a buffet, add about 20%, because guests often take a fresh fork when they go back for seconds.
Where does the fork go on a place setting?
To the left of the plate. If there’s a salad fork too, it goes on the outside, because you work from the outside in. A dessert fork can lie horizontally above the plate, with the handle pointing left.
Do you sell forks, spoons and knives in matching finishes?
Yes. Our gold forks, spoons and knives come in 90-piece packs that match each other. Baroque forks and spoons come in gold and silver, and heavyweight forks and spoons come in gold 600-piece packs. For complete matching place settings in one box, see our cutlery sets.
Are plastic forks strong enough for cake and main courses?
Yes. They’re made from rigid, heavy-duty plastic that handles a slice of cake, salad or pasta without bending. For larger crowds or heavier food like steak or roast chicken, the heavyweight forks and spoons are the thickest option. If guests will be cutting meat, set out knives too, so nobody has to saw with a fork.

Plastic forks, spoons and knives, sold separately
Sometimes you don’t need full place settings, just more forks. These packs give you plastic forks, spoons or knives on their own, in packs of 90 to 600, so you can top up a set or cover a single course.
When to buy them separately
- Cake or dessert: one fork or spoon per guest, on top of the dinner fork. Pair them with dessert plates.
- A salad course: a second fork for each guest.
- Soup, ice cream or a dessert bar: spoons only.
- A buffet: forks go fastest, so put out more forks than knives.
Match what you already have
The packs come in the same gold, silver, baroque and heavyweight styles as many of our cutlery sets, so extra pieces sit comfortably alongside them. Forks are about 7.4 to 7.8 inches long and the heavyweight spoons about 6.9 inches, close to standard flatware.
Care
Like all our plastic silverware, these are hand-wash only. Wash them in warm, soapy water if you want to reuse them, and keep them out of the dishwasher and microwave.
