What size is a cocktail napkin?
A standard cocktail napkin is about 10 x 10 inches unfolded, or 5 x 5 folded, just big enough to wrap a drink. Ours are larger: 13 x 15.75 inches unfolded and about 7.9 x 4.3 inches folded. That’s sized for a full meal, but they still work at the bar.
How many napkins do I need for 100 guests?
For a seated dinner, about 110 to 115, which is one per guest plus spares. For a buffet, plan on 200 to 300. For a cocktail party with drinks and passed appetizers, 300 to 400. Most of our packs hold 100 or 150 napkins, so check the count on each product page.
How do you fold paper napkins?
The simplest table fold is the rectangle: lay the napkin as it comes from the pack, long side parallel to the fork, with the folded edge toward the plate. For a pocket fold, fold the napkin in half, turn back the top layer partway, flip it over, fold in both sides and slide the silverware into the pocket. Our flatware-pocket napkins come with the pocket built in.
Is 3-ply better than 2-ply?
For meals, yes. Ply is the number of paper layers, so 3-ply is thicker, softer and more absorbent than 2-ply. It holds up better against sauce and greasy fingers and feels closer to cloth. 2-ply is fine for drinks. Most of our napkins are 3-ply.
Do you have monogram napkins?
Yes. Our gold letter napkins come in the initials B, D, J, K, M, R and S, and we also carry gold Mr & Mrs napkins for weddings and anniversaries. Both come in packs of 100. Pair them with gold silverware and white plates for a classic wedding table.

Paper napkins that finish the table
Napkins are the least expensive way to pull a table together. Most of ours are 3-ply paper, 13 x 15.75 inches unfolded and folded to about 7.9 x 4.3 inches. That long rectangle sits neatly beside a plate or across it, and it’s large enough for a full meal, not just drinks.
Styles
- Solid colors and metallic rims in black, white, pink, sage, blue, rose gold and more, some with gold or silver edges, to match plates and cutlery.
- Gingham in a range of colors, for picnics, showers and barbecues.
- Weddings: gold monogram letters and Mr & Mrs prints.
- Holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas prints.
- Napkins with a built-in flatware pocket: linen-feel napkins with a pocket that holds a fork, knife and spoon, so there’s nothing to roll.
How many to buy
For a sit-down meal, plan on one napkin per place setting plus 10 to 15%. Buffets go through two to three per guest, and cocktail parties three to four, because guests take one with every drink and bite. Our dinnerware sets already include napkins, so check before you double up. Pair the pocket napkins with cutlery sets.
